A panel of students with disabilities will answer questions and share their experiences with the students from this class.

Local author Beth Finke will be reading from her book "Long Time, No See". Her book is a memoir about losing her sight, raising a son born with multiple disabilities and her life.

Wheels for the World Wheelchair Drive (All Week Long)

8:30am-5:00pm, Division of Rehabilitation-Education Services (DRES), 1207 S. Oak St., Champaign

Wheels for the World takes donation of old and used wheelchairs and issues them to children and persons with disabilities in third world countries. Volunteers of this organization restore chairs to good condition and take them overseas. The Champaign-Urbana community can join Delta Sigma Omicron by donating wheelchairs no longer in use. Wheelchair can be dropped off at DRES during regular business hours.

Accessible Community Art Mural (All Week Long)

8am-5pm, Illinois Terminal 2nd Floor 45 E. University Ave., Champaign

An accessible Community Art Mural done by participants of the Very Special Arts Festival sponsored by C-U Special Recreation will be on display on the 2nd Floor of the Illinois Terminal in downtown Champaign.

IBM Lunch 'n Learn People with Disabilities in the Work Environment

11:00am-1:00pm, 508 S. Sixth St.

IBM is hosting a PicTel/Video Conference during which employees of IBM will share their experiences as employees with disabilities, the accommodations they have received, how they were hired, and will offer advice for others looking for employment. Registration is required.

IBM Seminar for Faculty and Staff

2:00-3:00pm, 508 S. Sixth St.

Discussion will be geared toward preparing students for the work force. Registration is required.

Ice Sports Clinic

4:00-5:00pm, UI Ice Arena, 406 E. Armory, Champaign

Interested in ice sports? Come try the specially designed sled for ice hockey, racing, and skating. Bring your friends and put together a team for Broomball. Everyone is welcome to the experience.

Free Bowling!

8:00-10:00pm, Illini Union Bowling & Billiards, Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana

Lanes will be available for bowling enthusiast. Put together a team or come on your own. Ramps will be available for accessibility.

Everyone is welcome to join Delta Sigma Omicron members for a movie night. Movie selection will be based on the portrayal of persons with disabilities. Possible movies to be shown: I Am Sam, Simon Birch, Rainman, Born on the 4th of July, etc

Sunday, April 27th

25th Annual Delta Sigma Omicron Wheel-a-thon

11:00am-4:30pm, University of Illinois Quad

Be a part of the annual charity fund-raiser held on the University of Illinois Quadrangle. Money is raised by participants who collect pledges for the number of laps they will push in a wheelchair around the quad. The proceeds are donated to national and/or local organizations that focus on services for persons with disabilities. Pledge sheets are available in Room 136 Rehabilitation Education Center, 1207 S. Oak St., Champaign. Registrations will also be taken at the event. Rain site is the Armory.
