Dear Students:
Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) will hold their annual recruiting at DRES on Friday, February 13, 2009 in room 107 of DRES. WRP is a recruitment program for the federal sector, and all majors, disabilities (both visible and nonvisible), and enrollment years (Freshman - PhD) are encouraged to interview! Interviewing does not obligate you to accept an internship if you are offered one, therefore I encourage anybody who is interested to apply! If you would like to interview, please email sheft@illinois.edu to set up a time. Time slots will be granted on a first come, first serve basis. Time slots begin at 8:00 AM and the last one will be for 4:30 PM, each interview will last approximately 30 minutes.
You are required to bring the following to your interview:
1. UPDATED RESUME:
This year, applicants are highly encouraged to prepare a resume for their interview rather than using the federal OF612 form as employers prefer to see resumes. You may prepare a traditional resume or create a federal resume using the resume builder found on the USAJobs website at http://www.usajobs.gov. Students who prefer to use the OF612 can find the form online at http://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/of612.pdf.
2. TRANSCRIPT:
It is necessary to bring a transcript (official or unofficial) to the interview; it is an important part of the application packet.
For the 2nd year, student applicants have the opportunity to enter their contact information directly into the WRP database via their new website. In keeping with stricter federal security measures regarding personal information, this process ensures that You (the student), not the recruiter, enters his or her Social Security number into the database; once the SSN is keyed in by you (the student) it is encrypted and stored separately from the information that potential employers will be able to review. Entering their own contact information also allows students to be certain that their address(es), phone number(s), and email address(es) are correct for employers who would like to contact them about potential jobs. As a student, you will not be creating permanent accounts for yourself but will have one-time access to a data entry screen where they will fill in their information. Students should visit https://wrp.gov/registerstudent to get to the data entry portal on the WRP website. This will take you to a secure web page where they can enter their contact information and submit it to you via the website. Please email me at sheft@illinois.edu for the WRP 2009 Student Data Entry Instructions-Screen Shots instruction sheet that can assist you in completing this process. Once your data is entered, I will be asked to approve or disapprove your info. If I approve your file it will become available to the recruiter via the website. If I reject the file it will become inactive. The only people I will reject are students who are NOT registered with DRES for services, or do not know.
Let me know if you have questions. Last year we had one student accept an internship, which turned into a permanent employment position, and had at least 2 other internship offers extended to students!
Sincerely,
Susann
