Other Accessibility Issues with CourseInfo
- There are some accessibility problems
associated with the use of frames:
- Choices in one frame (i.e. selecting a button) affect content in a
different frame. This means someone using a browser that does not support
frames will find it difficult to impossible to access some course content
features.
- Frame titles are identical for different frames on the same page, which
makes it difficult to tell the purpose of each frame.
- Inappropriate <NOFRAMES> content. ("Courses by CourseInfo v3.0
are best viewed with Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer. Please
download one in order to continue.")
- Not all of the code is
standard
HTML:
- Incorrect syntax prevents alt text from displaying properly in some
browsers.
- External links open in new windows, which can be very disorienting to some
users.
- Address displayed by browser is always the same no matter what page the
user is on, starting with the CourseInfo Gateway. This is confusing.
- Uses physical styles,
such as <CENTER> and <FONT> tags, to format text instead of using
web style sheets.
Look at the CourseInfo Gateway
example to see some accessibility issues with the CourseInfo Gateway and
how they could be corrected.
