Sorting Messages Within Mailboxes according to Date, Author, etc.

The message summaries in mailboxes are automatically sorted by date, in ascending order (the newest messages at the bottom of the mailbox).

3 ways to change the sort, and to select the appropriate command from the Sort sub menu within the Edit menu.

Examples:

1. DATE

  1. Type the ALT + E keys to pull down the "Edit" bar menu.
  2. Type the S key to open the "Sort" list.
  3. Move the highlight to "Sort by Date" by pressing the up or down arrow keys.
  4. Type ENTER for Date view.
2. DATE
  1. Type the ALT + E keys to pull down the "Edit" bar menu.
  2. Type the S key to open the "Sort" list.
  3. Type the D key to "Sort by Date".

3rd way is to type the ALT key and also type any underlined letter of the column headings to sort by that column.

Example:
  1. Type the ALT + D keys for an instantaneous sort by Date.
To sort in descending order, hold down the Shift key and select the Date sort command. Each sort is based on the previous state of the mailbox. For example, if a mailbox is sorted by date, and then you sort by sender, the messages are grouped by sender and then each group is in order by date of any sender group.

Example:

  1. Type the ALT + D keys for the Date column.
  2. Type the ALT + O keys for the (Sender) "Who" column.
