Using the Address Book

The Address Book is where you keep information about individuals or groups that you correspond with. Each entry in the Address Book includes a nickname for a person or group, their full e-mail addresses, a real name, any contact information, and any notes. You can also use the Address Book to put nicknames on the Quick Recipient List, and to address a new message.

2 ways to open the Address Book:

  1. To open the Address Book, select Address Book from the Tools pull down menu and type ENTER.
  2. To open the Address Book, type the CONTROL + L keys at any mailbox window.


Creating Nicknames and developing the E-mail address list:

8 Steps:
  1. Within either the IN or the OUT mail box window type the CONTROL + L keys.
  2. At the View by window type the ALT + N keys to create a New Nickname.
  3. At the New Nickname dialog box type the person's last name first then type the rest of the proper name. (every additional last name will be automatically alphabetically arranged.)
  4. Type the ALT + P keys to "Put it (Nickname) on the recipient list".
  5. Type ENTER.
  6. Click the mouse pointer in the right window pane to type the complete E-mail address associated with the nickname.
  7. To enter another nickname and associated E-mail address follow steps 2-6.
  8. To return to a mailbox type the ALT + F + C keys.

Using the two types of Nickname lists:

They are; Example A:

Type the CONTROL + L keys to "View By: Nickname(s)" and see their associated E-mail addresses.

6 Steps:
  1. From any mailbox window type the CONTROL + L keys to "View By: Nickname(s)".
  2. Press the up or down arrow keys to select the highlighted Nickname. Each highlighted Nickname displays its E-mail address in the right window pane.
  3. After selecting the Nickname type the ALT + T keys "To:" to enter the person's highlighted Nickname along with the E-mail address you are sending the Message to.
  4. At the top line of the E-mail window and to the right of  "To:" will appear the person's Nickname while the E-mail address you are sending the message to is invisible.
  5. Type the TAB key four times to place the type cursor into the text composition box.
  6. Type the CONTROL + E keys to send your completed E-mail message.
Example B:

Type the ALT + M + M keys to view the "Quick Recipient List" without seeing their associated E-mail addresses.

6 Steps:
  1. From any mailbox window type the ALT + M + M keys to open the "Quick Recipient List".
  2. Press the up or down arrow keys to select the highlighted Nickname.
  3. After selecting the Nickname type the ENTER key.
  4. At the top line of the E-mail window and to the right of  "To:" will appear the person's Nickname while the E-mail address you are sending the message to is again invisible.
  5. Type the TAB key four times to place the type cursor into the text composition box.
  6. Type the CONTROL + E keys to send your completed E-mail message.
