Universal Design Symbol PowerPoint '97: Saving to a Floppy Disk with Shortcut Keys


Three ways to save a file to a floppy disk:

  1. Saving directly to the floppy disk in drive A:
  2. Saving directly to the floppy disk in drive B:
  3. Choosing the floppy drive and then entering the file name

Five steps to save a file to a floppy disk in Drive A:

  1. Insert a floppy disk into the disk drive.
  2. Press Alt+F to open the file menu.
  3. Press the A key to open the "Save As" dialog box.
  4. Type in the letter a, followed by a colon ":" and then type in the name of your file. Press Enter and your slide will be saved to your floppy disk. The "a:" you typed in front of the filename is to specify that you want to save the presentation to a floppy disk in the "a:" drive.
  5. If you received an error message when you tried to save your slide, check the following:

Five steps to save a file to a floppy disk in Drive B:

  1. Insert a floppy disk into the disk drive.
  2. Press Alt+F to open the file menu.
  3. Press A to open the "Save As" dialog box.
  4. Type in the letter b, followed by a colon ":" and then type in the name of your file. Press ENTER and your slide will be saved to your floppy disk. The "b:" you typed in front of the filename is how to specify that you want to save to a floppy disk in the b: drive.
  5. If you received an error message when you tried to save your slide, check the following:

Thirteen steps to save a file to a floppy disk

  1. Insert a floppy disk into disk drive.
  2. Press ALT+F to open the file menu.
  3. Press A to open the "Save As" dialog box.
  4. Press ALT+I to choose a directory in which to save the file.
  5. Use the up and down arrow keys to select the "3 1/2 Floppy [A:]"
  6. Press ENTER.
  7. Press TAB to move to a list of sub-directories and file names on the floppy disk.
  8. If you don't have a sub-directory skip to the next step. Otherwise use the up and down arrow keys to highlight a sub-directory.
  9. Press ENTER.
  10. Press ALT+N to move the cursor to the "file name" prompt.
  11. Type the file name and then press ENTER.
  12. The slide you were working on is now saved to the floppy disk with the filename that you specified.
  13. If you received an error message when you tried to save your slide, check the following:
