WordPerfect 7: Saving to
a floppy disk with Shortcut Keys
Three ways to save a file to a floppy disk
- Saving
directly to the floppy disk in drive A:
- Saving
directly to the floppy disk in drive B:
- Choosing the floppy drive and then entering the file
name
Five steps to save a file to a floppy disk in Drive A:
- Insert a floppy disk into disk drive.
- Press F3 to open the "Save As" dialog box.
- Type a: and the name of your file. Press ENTER and
your document will be saved to your floppy disk. The "a:" you typed
in front of the filename is how to specify that you want to save to a floppy
disk in the a: drive.
- If you received an error message when you tried to save your document,
check the following:
- Did you insert a floppy disk into the a: drive? If you did not insert a
disk you will recieve an error message, insert your disk and press
ENTER.
- Is the file name legal? Filenames must be less than 255 characters and must
NOT include any of the following characters forward slash (/), backslash (\),
greater-than sign (>), less-than sign (<), asterisk (*), question mark
(?), quotation mark ("), pipe symbol (|), colon (:), or semicolon (;).

Five steps to save a file to a floppy disk in Drive B:
- Insert a floppy disk into disk drive.
- Press F3 to open the "Save As" dialog box.
- Type b: and the name of your file. Press ENTER and
your document will be saved to your floppy disk. The "b:" you typed
in front of the filename is how to specify that you want to save to a floppy
disk in the b: drive.
- If you received an error message when you tried to save your document,
check the following:
- Did you insert a floppy disk into the a: drive? If you did not insert a
disk you will recieve an error message, insert your disk and press
ENTER.
- Is the file name legal? Filenames must be less than 255 characters and must
NOT include any of the following characters forward slash (/), backslash (\),

Ten steps to save a file to a floppy disk
- Insert a floppy disk into disk drive.
- Press F3 to open the "Save As" dialog box.
- Press ALT+I to choose a directory to save the file in.
- Use the up and down arrow keys to select the "3 1/2 Floppy [A:]",
Press ENTER.
- Press TAB twice to move to a list of folders and file names on
the floppy disk
- If you don't want to save the file in a folder skip to the next step.
Otherwise use the up and down arrow keys to highlight a folder and press
ENTER.
- Press ALT+N to move cursor to the Name prompt .
- Type a name for the file and press ENTER.
- The document you were working on is now saved to the floppy disk with the
filename that you specified.
- If you received an error message when you tried to save your document,
check the following:
- Did you insert a floppy disk into the a: drive or the b: drive?
- Is the file name legal? Filenames must be less than 255 characters and must
NOT include any of the following characters forward slash (/), backslash (\),
greater-than sign (>), less-than sign (<), asterisk (*), question mark
(?), quotation mark ("), pipe symbol (|), colon (:), or semicolon (;).
