To select to the beginning of the line (from the cursor's current location) press SHIFT+CTRL.
To select the entire document press CTRL+A.
To select to the end of the document (from the cursor's current location) press SHIFT+CTRL+END.
To select one word to the left of the cursor press SHIFT+CTRL+left arrow.
To select one word to the right of the cursor press SHIFT+CTRL+right arrow.
