About the Primary and Secondary zoom windows
A ZoomText zoom window is an area in which a magnified view of the computer
screen is displayed. Because of the magnification, the zoom window only shows a
portion of the screen at any one time; however, any area of the screen can be
viewed with it. ZoomText 5.2 contains Primary and
Secondary zoom windows.
Some facts about zoom windows:
- Zoom windows can occupy either a portion of the screen or the entire
screen.
- Zoom windows are outlined with a thick black frame.
- Partial-screen zoom windows lie on top of the regular screen, so you can
view magnified and unmagnified areas at the same time.
- A single zoom window - the Primary - is always displayed. You can also
display up to five Secondary zoom windows.
- Each zoom window can be configured independently, with its own
magnification, tracking, alignment, and color settings.
The Primary zoom window:
- Is always displayed; it can't be hidden.
- Is a general-purpose window, designed to display all important screen
activity.
- Can be one of the five types listed below. They control the size and
behavior of the window.
Primary zoom window types:
- Overlay - lies on top of the normal screen. Can be sized and moved to
occupy any portion of the screen. This is the default type.
- Full - occupies the full screen; cannot be sized or moved.
- Lens - a partial-screen zoom window that moves along with tracked screen
activity, magnifying what is directly beneath it. Can be sized to cover up to
1/4 of the screen.
- H-split - a horizontal split-screen zoom window that occupies the full
width of the screen. Only its height can be adjusted.
- V-split - a vertical split-screen zoom window that occupies the full
height of the screen. Only its width can be adjusted.
Secondary zoom windows:
- These are special-purpose windows that are designed for particular tasks,
such as monitoring a status line or performing text entry.
- These are all hidden by default.
- They can be turned on or off independently.
- They can be sized and moved to occupy any portion of the screen.
The Secondary zoom windows and their dialog box:
The Secondary zoom windows dialog box is used to turn on and off any
combination of Secondary zoom windows, and to define the zone for the Zone
pop-up zoom window.
There are two steps to open the dialog box:
- Press Alt+W to open the Window menu.
- Press S to open the Secondary zoom windows dialog box.
- Using the dialog box, you can choose from the following options for the
Secondary zoom windows:
- 2nd Overlay - enables a partial-screen zoom window that behaves like the
Primary Overlay window.
- Text Entry - enables a special-purpose zoom window that tracks and
displays text as it is entered.
- Static 1 - enables a zoom window that minitors a fixed screen location,
such as a status bar. Use the scroll tool to set the desired view. This window
does not track on any screen activity.
- Static 2 - enables a second zoom window that monitors a fixed screen
location.
- Zone Pop-up - enables a zoom window that pops up when the cursor moves
into a predefined zone. When the cursor moves out of the zone, the zoom window
becomes hidden.
- Set Zone - activates the mode for setting the zone for the Zone Pop-up
window.
