| Hello DRES students! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself! My name is Michelle Priddy and I am the Outreach Coordinator for the Midwest Alliance. The Midwest Alliance strives to increase the involvement and level of success of students with disabilities completing postsecondary degrees and entering careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields and programs. To determine whether or not your major is STEM related, please refer to this link: http://stemmidwest.org/default.asp?contentID=544 There are three main ways in which we can help you* pursue your academic and career goals: - One-on-One Mentoring Placements - Internship Searches and Placement Support - Enrichment Camps, Special Events, and STEM Exploration (* In order to be eligible, you must 1) be either from or attending high school/college in Illinois, Wisconsin or Iowa, 2) have a verifiable disability and 3) be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.) A variety of stipends are available for students who successfully complete the requirements of our program. To apply to be a participant in our program, go to our website and do the following: - Start by clicking on "For Students and Alumni" on the left side of the homepage. - You can then choose either our "Mentorship Program," "Internship/Lab Opportunities," or "Enrichment Opportunities" - each of these pages will have a link to our online application. - Once your application and associated documents have been received, I will contact you and move forward with getting you established into our program.
