However, please note that the Writer’s Workshop does not proofread student’s work.   3. Phi Eta Sigma Illinois – Freshmen Honor Society Tutoring Program https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ro/www/PhiEtaSigma-FreshmenHonorSociety/index.htm This website allows you to post an ad for a tutor in a specific subject and then someone from the organization will contact you to make arrangements.
  4. OMSA (Office of Multicultural Student Affairs) East http://www.omsa.uiuc.edu/academicservices/tutorials.aspx - tutors are available in a variety of subjects for students who are in the Educational Opportunities Program, President’s Award Program and LAS Bridge-Transition Program and other undergraduates depending on funding and approved by the OMSA Director or Academic Services Coordinator.
  5. Leadership and Management Club – club open to all majors; asked to pay small fee and attend general meetings; individual and small group tutoring available to members.

Other Sources of Help

  1. Professors, Teaching Assistants (TAs) – If you cannot find a tutor to meet your needs using the resources above, schedule a meeting with either your professor or TA. They may be able to help you directly or assist you in finding someone who you can meet with on a regular basis.
  2. Virtual Job Board https://osfaweb1.ad.uiuc.edu/vjb/ - The Virtual Job Board allows you to post an ad for a tutor. Check the board to see the “going rate” for tutors and determine what you are able/willing to pay for one. Students in DRES who have used this resource have generally had success in finding a tutor.
  3. Academic Advisors – Your academic advisor may know of resources in individual departments to assist you.
  4. DRES Academic Staff – Contact your Resource Facilitator (case manager) to determine if s/he may know of another student who would be willing to tutor you. Sometimes students who are receiving DRES services are interested in tutoring other students in their strong areas as a way of giving back to DRES for what they have received.
