Parking in More Than One Location

FOR STUDENTS WHO NEED PARKING IN MORE THAN ONE LOCATION:

1. Students with permanent disabilities or long-term temporary disabilities who need parking in close proximity to various locations may wish to obtain accessible placards (hang tags) or special license plates from the State of Illinois. Such placards/plates allow free parking at City of Champaign and City of Urbana municipal metered spaces as well as the use of marked accessible parking at such places as grocery stores, theaters, and shopping malls. Students can park at university meters for short term use only at no charge. Long term parking needs on campus must be assigned by the Parking Department.

2. Individuals who would like to obtain the placards/plates should obtain forms for this purpose from the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State for their physicians to complete (these forms can also be obtained at the DRES Student Services Office 111). Completed forms should be taken to the nearest drivers' license office where placards will be distributed. FOR THOSE WITH TEMPORARY DISABILITIES, THE PLACARDS ARE GOOD FOR 6 MONTHS.

3. Following authorization from DRES staff, students with placards / plates are free to come to DRES, leave their vehicles in lot E-26, or at the metered spaces on Oak Street, and ride the DRES buses to class. If a student is not utilizing DRES buses, however, s/he cannot park in the DRES lot (i.e., the DRES lot cannot be used for "free" parking when riding the MTD shuttles).
